Jan Schwieterman, ‘Good Burger’ Actor, Passes Away at 52 After Cancer Battle
Jan Patrick “J.P.” Schwieterman, best known for his role as Kurt Bozwell in Good Burger, has passed away at the age of 52. His brother, Chad Schwieterman, confirmed the heartbreaking news on Facebook, revealing that Jan had recently been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
A Life in Acting
Born on September 30, 1972, in Bluffton, Indiana, Jan had an early passion for the arts. After high school, he moved to California to pursue acting, landing his first role in McKenna (1994). He went on to guest star in ER, Felicity, NightMan, and Undressed. However, his most recognized role came in 1997 when he played the villain Kurt Bozwell in Nickelodeon’s Good Burger, alongside Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell.
Jan continued acting in films like Warlock III: The End of Innocence (1999), American Intellectuals, and Fallen Arches (2000). After a hiatus, he returned for one final role in Along the Way (2007).
Beyond Acting
Outside of Hollywood, Jan had a passion for photography, painting, martial arts, and even Dungeons & Dragons. He also loved traveling and had recently visited Thailand.
A Fond Farewell
Jan passed away on February 28 at Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri. His funeral was held on March 4, with his family requesting donations to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in his honor.
He is survived by his parents, siblings Chad, Megan, and Vanessa, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
